Firstly, this unit has 72 tweezers, which is more than any other on the market.

This means that the Emjoi AP-18 simply removes more hairs faster. More tweezers also means you will need to make fewer passes over an area to obtain the desired result, namely silky smooth skin for up to 6 weeks.

Secondly, Emjoi has a patented “Glide Technology” which it claims means less irritation, and this is coupled with its “Silver Ion” Technology to protect against  bacterial infection.

The Philips HP6576 Satin Perfect, is a quality, Wet and Dry, rechargeable Epilator offering 40 minutes usage from a one hour charge.

Philips utilize 32 textured ceramic discs, together with an extra wide head to gain maximum hair removal from every stroke.

The pivoting performance cap helps to maintain the ideal operating angle and the built in light helps to locate even fine hairs.

Philips believe this unit is as gentle as the system is efficient, but like any other Epilator it will take a month for you to adjust to it if you are switching from shaving or waxing.

The unit is moderately quiet, perhaps a little louder than a normal facial shaver when in operation.

Overall the unit is very similar in performance to the Braun SE7681, offering either Wet or Dry functionality
The unit cannot be used while plugged into a wall socket, and cannot be used if the skin is damp as opposed to wet as it is in a bath or shower.

This unit also has 40 pairs of tweezers, and like its sister product struggles to compete with the Emjoi AP-18 for power and rapid hair removal, but the trade off is the convenience of the Wet or Dry option and the portability of a battery powered device.

Those are our top 5 Epilators for women. Admittedly we have settled on offerings from the upper end of the market, but with a process like Epilating cheaper units tend to mean fewer features and increased discomfort.

In the end we chose power and speed over the flexibility of Wet/Dry, use anywhere models. The fact that our #1 is also free of the rechargeable battery that so often spells the end of an Epilator is a major factor as well.
